Daiichi Sankyo Company, Limited (hereinafter, Daiichi Sankyo) today announced that it has submitted a supplemental new drug application for mirogabalin besilate (hereinafter, mirogabalin) for an additional indication related to central neuropathic pain (CNP) in Japan.
This application is based on the results from a phase 3 trial conducted in patients with CNP. Daiichi Sankyo will continue to strive to provide new therapeutic options for patients suffering from diverse types of pain.
Mirogabalin is created by Daiichi Sankyo for the treatment of chronic pain. The drug is considered to exhibit an analgesic action by suppressing the increased release of neurotransmitters in nerve endings involved in pain. Approval for the indication of peripheral neuropathic pain was obtained in January 2019 in Japan.
